Oops, How Time Slips Away . . .

Associated Press

A repairman standing on the hand of a giant clock atop a building dangled from his belt for about 20 minutes after the hand he was standing on broke.

Otto Tamplin, 30, was repairing neon lights on the clock Thursday afternoon when one of the hands broke. The hands were set at 3:15 to create a horizontal platform.

Tamplin, an employee of AMG Sign Co., was saved by his safety belt and a rope attached to a beam on the building’s roof. Rescue workers pulled him into the building through a seventh-floor window.
