If modern Hollywood were not so utterly self-absorbed, someone at the Academy Award ceremony might have had the grace to mention Lillian Gish.
Celebrating women in film indeed! Why, if Gish’s 79-year film career wasn’t an inspiration to the women at the Oscars, they didn’t deserve to be there. And that goes for the men too. For shame!
A passing reference to Helen Hayes wouldn’t have been out of line either. JIM LANE
