Crescenta Valley’s Kawar Picks UCLA

Nada Kawar of Crescenta Valley High, the 1992 Southern Section 4-A Division champion in the girls’ shotput, has made a oral commitment to attend UCLA.
Kawar took recruiting trips to Cal and UCLA before deciding to join the Bruins. She canceled a trip to Stanford after choosing UCLA.
“I just like everything about the school,” said Kawar, who plans to take premed course. “I really like the coaching staff, I like the campus, and it’s close by so I can go home to (La Crescenta) whenever I want.”
Kawar finished third in last year’s state championships in the shotput and has a personal best of 45 feet 9 1/2 inches in that event. She also has a best of 116-10 in the discus.
