Nick and Paul Foster, Thousand Oaks High’s identical, 6-foot-7 twins, on Thursday committed to play basketball for the Air Force Academy.
“We were expecting to go to different colleges but this just kind of worked out,” Nick said. “We will be able to help each other out.”
Paul, The Times’ All-Ventura County player of the year, averaged a team-high 16.2 points and eight rebounds. Nick, a member of The Times’ All-Ventura County team, averaged 11.5 points and a team-leading 9.2 rebounds.
Nick led the Lancers with 83 blocked shots and Paul contributed 79. They intend to major in engineering.
Both were considering attending either Ventura, Moorpark or Westmont colleges. Paul also thought about walking on at UC Santa Barbara.
Along with junior forward Jason Hartman, the Fosters formed an overpowering front line that led Thousand Oaks (26-2, 14-0 in league play) to its third consecutive Marmonte League title and to the Southern Section Division I-A semifinals.
