C.A.A.N. Not Tied to Critic

Re: Ventura County Life, April 8, “A Safe Place,” it is unfortunate that in citing “the most visible critic . . . Robert Woodson,” of the planned Casa Pacifica Project, the article linked him with C.A.A.N., Child Abuse and Neglect Inc. Mr. Woodson was a board member of C.A.A.N. five years ago. He does not now, nor has he ever, ever spoken as an official representative of C.A.A.N. in regards to the Casa Pacifica Project.
C.A.A.N. is the only private nonprofit agency in Ventura County exclusively dedicated to the prevention, intervention and treatment of child abuse.
As our county’s lead agency in the fight against child abuse, C.A.A.N. has always been in support of, and worked toward, the dream of building “a safe place” for children. C.A.A.N. staff have been involved in the program planning efforts of Casa Pacifica and has presented to hundreds of civic groups to attest to the need for Casa Pacifica. C.A.A.N. board members, staff and volunteers remain committed to ensuring the safety of all our children and to the building of Casa Pacifica.
