When I received the “Up Jumped Spring” issue of Traveling in Style (March 7), I said, “Wow! What a beautiful picture of the flower fields of the Lompoc Valley.” Imagine how disappointed I felt when I opened the magazine to find that the photograph was of the tulip fields in far-off Holland. Although Holland is truly breathtaking, so are the hundreds of acres of commercial flower fields blooming May through August in the Lompoc Valley, which has been known for decades as the Flower Seed Capital of the World.
A three-hour drive north to Lompoc is more affordable than a trip to Holland.
