Germany scored five times during the first period and held on to beat the United States, 6-3, in the pool B finale in the World Hockey Championships at Dortmund, Germany.
Canada, which has not won the tournament since 1961, defeated Russia, 3-1, in the last pool A game in Munich and completed the preliminary round as the only team with a 5-0 record. Eric Lindros, who had six points in each of the previous two games, scored one goal and had one assist for Canada.
