COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cypress’ Sager Tosses Three-Hit Shutout

Leigh Sager pitched a three-hitter to help Cypress to an 8-0 victory over Moorpark in a nonconference softball game Sunday in Cypress.

Sager walked four and struck out nine and Carrie Frederick had two hits and two runs batted in for the Chargers (41-17). Moorpark is 14-13.

Beck wins--Saddleback’s David Beck, who won the three-meter men’s title with a score of 441.85, was one of four divers from Orange County teams to advance to the State meet. Beck finished third in the one-meter competition with 406.55 points. Winner Tim Saylor of San Diego Mesa had 422.45.

Cliff Johansen of Golden West was sixth on the one-meter board (367.35) and eighth on the three-meter (347.45). Andrew Triplett of Orange Coast was eighth on one-meter (351.85) and seventh on three (397.35).

In the women’s competition, Saddleback’s Shannon Roberson was third in the three-meter event (354.70) and fourth in the one-meter (311.45).
