‘Angels’ on Screen?: Playwright Tony Kushner on Monday confirmed he is “seriously talking” to director Robert Altman about a potential feature film version of his Pulitzer Prize-winning AIDS drama “Angels in America.” Speaking by telephone from his New York home, Kushner said: “Altman is the only person I would consider having make the film. . . . I’m excited about the talks we’ve had. But I’m still trying to decide if I really want it to be made into a movie.” An article in the Hollywood Reporter said Altman at the Cannes Film Festival said he is developing a film version of “Angels.” Kushner said two friends of his in the film business first urged Altman to see the play last October at Los Angeles’ Mark Taper Forum. The play has been nominated for nine Tony Awards.
