Man Crushed to Death Under Car

CANOGA PARK — A 73-year-old Canoga Park man was crushed to death when a hydraulic jack failed while he was working underneath a car in front of his house.

Henry Mundo was pinned under the car Friday afternoon for several hours before a neighbor found him, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Mike Little said Saturday. A neighbor said Mundo, who lived alone in the 6900 block of Maynard Avenue, had bought the new car jack recently and was probably testing it when the accident occurred.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene about 3:45 p.m., Little said.
