LTV Corp. Bankruptcy Ends: The steelmaker said it has emerged from Chapter 11 protection after nearly seven years. The company’s new shares are to begin trading today on the NYSE. Its bankruptcy reorganization settled more than $6 billion in creditor claims and another $3 billion in pension liabilities. To pay off the debts, the company sold off its defense and aerospace business last year to focus largely on its steel and energy businesses. The company now has 18,200 employees, compared to 40,000 before the bankruptcy.
