IRVINE : Fleeing Burglar’s Car Strikes Woman
- Share via
An 81-year-old woman arriving home with her family Tuesday was hit by a car driven by a burglar fleeing their house, police said.
Residents of a house on Agate came home about 2 p.m. and saw a strange car in their driveway, Sgt. Dick Bowman said.
A man walked to the car, a 1970 Chevrolet Nova, and the family asked him to remove it from their property. He did so nervously, scraping the family’s car and knocking the 81-year-old woman to the ground, Bowman said. The victims’ names were not available, he said.
After the stranger left, the residents found that their house had been ransacked and valuable items had been stacked near the front door, Bowman said.
The injured woman was taken to a local hospital, where she was under-going tests for internal injuries, Bowman said.
