Barney’s Rubble Crushes Live Artists

A kiddie album in the Top 10? Strange as it sounds, it’s a fact--with a singing dinosaur no less. Barney, with “Barney’s Favorites Vol. 1” (obviously more are on the way), charged up to No. 9, from No. 31, in its second week on the chart. And this is only the beginning. With Christmas coming, expect this Barney music collection to do strong business during the shopping season. At least John Mellencamp can say he wasn’t beaten out by a cuddly dinosaur. His “Human Wheels” rolled onto the chart at No. 7. Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover” is still the top pop single.
