Guard Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls is expected to miss sit out at least two weeks of training camp because of toe surgery.
The surgery will consist of sewing two toes together on Jordan’s left foot to prevent corns from growing in the webbing between the toes.

North Carolina plans to seek the death penalty against two 18-year-olds charged with killing Michael Jordan’s father, a prosecutor said.
District Attorney Richard Townsend made the disclosure in response to a motion by Hugh Rogers, attorney for Larry Martin Demery, during a hearing in Robeson County Superior Court.
Demery and Daniel Andre Green are charged with killing James Jordan in his car on July 23.

Todd Martin of Lansing, Mich., upset Ivan Lendl, 4-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-4, in the opening round of the Australian Indoor championships in Sydney.
In other first-round matches, defending champion Goran Ivanisevic of Croatia defeated Jason Stoltenberg of Australia, 6-4, 6-2.
