Xircom Inc. Posts Record 4th-Quarter Profits, Sales

Xircom Inc., a Calabasas maker of network connections for personal computers, posted record sales and profits for its fiscal fourth quarter and year, reflecting sales growth, new products and additional spending on research and development.

For the three months that ended Sept. 30, the company’s net income surged 79%, to $3.2 million, on sales of $24.7 million. In the year-earlier period, Xircom earned $1.8 million on sales of $17.1 million.

For all of fiscal 1993, Xircom said its profit jumped 59%, to $9.7 million from $6.1 million. Sales increased 39%, to $82.2 million from $59.1 million.
