GARDEN GROVE — The Allen brothers, Kevin and Richard, caught three touchdown passes and Moukda Choulamany ran for 210 yards and a touchdown to propel Rancho Alamitos to a 27-6 Garden Grove League victory over La Quinta Friday at Bolsa Grande High.
The Vaqueros (5-3-1, 4-2) managed only 10 yards offense in the first quarter, and no first downs. But two second-quarter touchdowns by Kevin Allen jump-started Rancho Alamitos.
With 3 minutes 4 seconds left in the half, quarterback John Frank finished a four-play drive with a pass to Kevin Allen, who caught the 18-yarder in the middle of two defenders. Three plays after the ensuing kickoff, Robert Meza intercepted a pass from La Quinta quarterback Jason Gondringer on the 41-yard line. Sixteen seconds later, Frank threw between two defenders, Allen crouched and caught the 20-yard touchdown pass.
After the kickoff, Gondringer completed a 20-yard pass to C.J. Livernois, threw an incompletion and completed a short pass to Watson Visuwan, who emerged from a clump of defenders, stumbled and outran them for a 58-yard touchdown. Visuwan led the Aztecs with 48 yards in 11 carries and three receptions for 82 yards.
Rancho Alamitos scored again in the third quarter, on a 44-yard pass from Frank to Allen’s older brother, Richard, and then in the fourth, on a spectacular 67-yard run by Choulamany.
