A brush fire caused by a downed electrical line scorched 34 acres north of Ventura on Thursday but caused no damage or injuries, the Ventura County Fire Department said.
The fire started about 10 a.m. on Shell Oil Co. property at Ventura Avenue and School Canyon Road, Fire Department spokeswoman Rhonda Roller said.
About 80 firefighters fought the blaze, which was brought under control at 2:20 p.m., Roller said.
Although winds were strong, the blaze was hemmed in by numerous oil roads, and firefighters did not fear that it would get out of control, she said.
