WEATHER WATCH: Forecasters are predicting a wetter and colder winter than usual in Ventura County, but don’t count on it. “We don’t put much stock in long-range forecasts,” said meteorologist Curtis Brack of WeatherData Inc. “After about five days, any forecast is pretty chancy.” . . . Amateur meteorologists can do their own forecasting with a home barometer, he said. Price: $20 and up, but costlier models are usually worth the extra money, Brack said. . . . Winter arrives at 12:26 p.m. today, when the sun reaches its lowest point in the southern sky.
