Stowaway on Rio-Rome Flight Dies in Cargo Bay

ROME — A young Brazilian man was found dead inside a jetliner’s cargo bay Saturday after sneaking onto a flight from Rio de Janeiro to Rome, airport officials said.
The body of the 20-year-old man was discovered by a ground crew after the Varig airline flight landed at Rome’s main airport.
The man, from Rio de Janeiro, was exposed to extremely low temperatures and apparently froze to death, the officials said. The cargo area where he hid also had little oxygen, they added.
