Brown Sets Up Education Hot Line

In preparation for a statewide education summit next month, Assembly Speaker Willie Brown has set up a 24-hour toll-free hot line to accept suggestions on how to improve California’s public schools.
Those suggestions will be considered by legislators and educators at the summit, to be held on Feb. 15 and 16 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.
The hot line number is 1-800-773-2594 (1-800-SPEAK-94). Tapes of phoned-in suggestions might be played at the summit, Brown said.
The education summit is aimed at analyzing the condition of California’s public education system and devising solutions to its problems. In preparation for the two-day forum, local summits will be held around the state this month, allowing Assembly members, parents, teachers and school board members to focus on local issues.
