Congress May Balk at C-17 Settlement: Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) raised doubts about whether Congress will support the settlement reached between the Pentagon and McDonnell Douglas on the cargo jet, saying, “I think it’s to early to answer” whether Congress will go along. Murtha added: “I’ve been a big critic of the C-17 program, the way it was handled--the ineptness of McDonnell Douglas. It’s almost as if they tried to screw that program up. We had them in last year--they guaranteed me the whole company was behind it. The Air Force tells me it’s a priority. The Army tells me it’s a priority. But we’ve got to look at it. I don’t think there’s any question you can answer until it comes down to the end, this year.”
