Carl Karcher Enterprises Inc.: The restaurateur has been sued by a Ventura County couple who said the Anaheim company misled them about the viability of its restaurants three years ago when they agreed to purchase eight franchise locations in Central California for $4.4 million. The lawsuit, filed Monday in Orange County Superior Court, accuses Karcher Enterprises of fraud, violating state franchise investment regulations and of breaching its fiduciary duty to a franchisee. Plaintiffs Sabrina and Alexander Shin, who said the eight restaurants have yet to operate at a profit, have asked for restitution and an unspecified amount of damages.
