Chinatown Bus Benches Display Public Art
Six artist-designed images have been installed on bus stop benches in Chinatown.
Included in the public art project, which is funded by a grant from the Cultural Affairs Department, are works by Los Angeles artists Hing Alan Cheung and Betty Phoenix Wan.
Cheung’s series, called “Legend--Artmerica,” juxtaposes images of artifacts from various cultures as a reminder of Los Angeles’ diverse cultural background. Wan’s “Nature Fleshes” addresses educational themes.
The images are at Sunset Boulevard near Broadway at the Broadway Chinatown crosswalk, and at the Hill Street Chinatown crosswalk. They will be up through July.
