Triconex Corp.: The maker of safety shut-off systems for industrial plants said Monday that it has acquired a Louisiana engineering firm that serves the petrochemical industry.
Irvine-based Triconex said it acquired Premier Engineering Inc. of Baton Rouge, La., for $1.9 million. It described Premier as a profitable operation employing 35 people, with $2 million in revenues last year and strong growth projected this year.
Triconex President William K. Barkovitz said the acquisition should help Triconex use the engineering expertise to find solutions for its customers’ problems.
It is the third major acquisition in a year. Triconex bought Tri-Sen Systems Inc., a digital turbo-machinery control maker based near Houston, last year. Triconex also has signed a letter of intent to acquire Precision Light Measurement Systems Ltd., a maker of infrared combustible gas detection systems in Plymouth, England, in January.
