Natalie Williams’ college career ended when the two-sport UCLA star learned Monday she has a serious knee injury requiring surgical repair.
Williams, an All-American in basketball and volleyball, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament when she injured her right knee during a UCLA-Stanford basketball game Saturday at Palo Alto.
Williams, a senior forward from Taylorsville, Utah, is the Pacific 10 Conference’s leading scorer (23.4) and rebounder (13.1). She also is the Pac-10’s all-time rebound leader with 1,137.
UCLA team orthopedist Gerald Finerman indicated he was optimistic she could return to sports after a post-surgery rehabilitation program.
