A Different Moral Standard : Using the Music Center

I would like to add a dimension to David Hockney’s statement that “the Music Center is the least user-friendly of any place I know” (“Music Center: Heal Thyself,” Feb. 7). My perspective is from a person who uses a wheelchair.

Granted, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is wheelchair accessible with handicapped-accessible toilets. This is fine, but the only area where one can remain in a wheelchair is the last row of the orchestra--an impossible location to enjoy opera, much less see supertitles. Some with a disability find it hard to transfer to a seat and, when they do, can create problems for patrons who must “climb over” them. Perhaps this is a problem the Founders could address.
