Ex-Postman Gets Probation, Fine for Thefts From Mail

OMAHA, Neb. — A former mail carrier has been sentenced to three years of probation for stealing $600 from greeting cards in a post office. John Edward Shaw, 48, of Bellevue, pleaded guilty to possession of stolen mail. In sentencing Shaw on Wednesday, U.S. District Court Judge Lyle Strom also ordered 300 hours of community service and a $600 fine.
