Black Dorm’s One White Resident

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — John O’Brien, 21, of Washington, D.C., is the sole white student in Harambee House.
After taking a trip to Kenya and taking African studies, he decided to move in.
“I get to meet people I wouldn’t otherwise,” O’Brien said.
He believes Brown is right to give students an option of where they want to live.
“Obviously we want to live in a world where everyone is mixed together,” he said. “But we are not there yet.”
