SANTA ANA — A domestic dispute between an estranged couple in the 800 block of South Cypress Avenue left both parties hospitalized with serious injuries Thursday, police said.
The fight began when Vertaldo Victerio Cestelan, 48, arrived at the home of Josefina Lucero Madin, said Sgt. Dick Faust. In the ensuing melee, Cestelan and Lucero attacked each other with knives and two bedposts, Faust said.
Both Cestelan and Lucero were critically injured. Police found Lucero in a nearby carport and Cestelan in the apartment. Cestelan was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana; Lucero to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Neither person has been arrested or charged, Faust said. The case is under investigation.
