Top-Ranked Bishop Amat Eliminated

La Puente Bishop Amat High, The Times’ top-ranked Southland baseball team, lost, 3-2, Tuesday to Hacienda Heights Los Altos in the Southern Section playoffs.
The loss was the first of the season for top-seeded Bishop Amat, which finished 26-1.
Trailing, 2-0, in the third inning, Los Altos’ Tom Rosser hit a two-run homer and Keith Dutton followed with a solo shot, giving the Conquerors the victory in the Division III second-round game at Los Altos (18-10).
Darren Merrill pitched a complete game and improved his record to 9-3.
