Chairman of TWA Resigns: The departure of Robin Wilson, an airline industry veteran who helped lead Trans World Airlines Inc. through Chapter 11 bankruptcy, was announced as effective immediately. Wilson’s resignation comes as the airline is cutting costs, attempting to avoid losses this year. He is the fifth senior executive to quit TWA since January. The airline has hired Salomon Bros. Inc. to help it find ways to raise cash, perhaps through a merger or partial sale of the airline. Wilson’s duties will be assumed by Ed Paquette, senior vice president of maintenance and airport operations.
