Key South African Cabinet Member Quits

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — Less than two months after it came to power, South Africa’s new democratic coalition government lost its most important link to the business community Tuesday with the surprise resignation of Finance Minister Derek Keys, who cited unspecified personal reasons for stepping down.
At a news conference Tuesday night, President Nelson Mandela announced that Keys would be replaced by another prominent business figure, Chris Liebenberg, former head of the banking conglomerate Nedcor.
