UNTIL YOUR HEART STOPS by T. M. McNally (Ivy: $5.99; 289 pp.). McNally’s novel about the repercussions of a high school student’s suicide reads like two imperfectly joined novellas. The students of the Arizona school strive to comprehend the loss of their friend as they struggle with usual teen-age crises. The teachers and administrators face problems of their own, but the two worlds don’t quite mesh, and the resulting book is more notable for its flashes of insight than its successful examination of a sensitive subjective.
