Phebus Defeats Ampuero in Final

Keri Phebus beat Cecelia Ampuero in a matchup of Newport Beach residents Sunday in the final of the Toshiba Tennis Classic at the Rancho San Clemente Tennis and Fitness Club.

Phebus, the third-seeded player, won the championship, 6-1, 6-2. Ampuero was unseeded.

By winning, Phebus earns a berth in the qualifying tournament for the main draw of the Toshiba Tennis Classic.
