College Trustee Named to State Commission

MISSION VIEJO — Saddleback Community College District Trustee John Williams has been appointed to the Commission on Trustee and Staff Development for the Community College League of California.
As a commissioner, the Mission Viejo resident will be responsible for guiding the league’s state conventions, employee hiring policies and other projects. He will serve for two years.
The group also helps formulate educational policy and deals with governmental issues for California community college districts.
Williams, who was elected to the Saddleback Community College District Board of Trustees in 1992, is a graduate of Saddleback College and a former volunteer track coach for the school.
The district, headquartered in Mission Viejo, oversees Irvine Valley College and Saddleback College.
An Orange County sheriff’s sergeant, Williams graduated from the University of Iowa and holds a master’s degree from Pepperdine University.
