Police Monday asked for help in finding the hit-and-run driver whose car fatally injured a 5-year-old boy crossing a street in the Westlake area to get ice cream.
Armando Davila was struck about 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Westlake Avenue and 11th Place, said Los Angeles Police Detective Sonia Cabrera of the Central Traffic Division. The car, which sped southbound on Westlake Avenue, may have been a taxi, Cabrera said.
It was described as a yellow, four-door, mid-1980s to 1990 Chevrolet Nova or Caprice, with two chrome, police-style spotlights at the tops of the fenders near the windshield. It had a glass divider behind the driver’s seat and there were two passengers in the back seat, Cabrera said.
