A 22-year-old man fired several shots at the front door of his former girlfriend’s Bell Gardens home Sunday, killing the woman’s boyfriend and wounding a teen-age boy, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Frank Herrera Castro, 22, walked up to Rite Valenzuela’s home as a party was in progress about 5 a.m. and began shooting indiscriminately at the front door, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Jones.
Roberto Reyna, 20, and a 15-year-old boy were struck by bullets as they tried to escape, Jones said. Valenzuela, 19, was unharmed.
Reyna, who was Valenzuela’s boyfriend, was hit in the head and died at the scene, Jones said. The boy was hospitalized after being struck in the right shoulder.
