Leslie’s Poolmart Earnings Rise in Quarter, 1st Half

Leslie’s Poolmart, a Chatsworth-based swimming pool supplies retailer, reported higher earnings in the second quarter and first half of the year. The results were driven by its growth plan, increased same-store sales and its everyday low-price strategy, the company said.
In the quarter ended June 30, Leslie’s had a profit of $7.28 million, up 21% from net income of $6.01 million a year ago. Its sales totaled $65.4 million, a 19% gain from $54.9 million in sales in the second quarter of 1993.
For the six months, Leslie’s earnings jumped 56%, to $3.72 million, while sales grew 18%, to $78.7 million. A year earlier, Leslie’s earned $2.38 million on $66.6 million in sales.
