Bank Robbery Suspect Sought by FBI Agents

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents are seeking a suspected bank robber, dubbed the “Yuppie Bandit,” who had a shootout with a customer earlier this month.
The man, who is about 6 feet tall and 30 years old, approached a teller at Hawthorne Savings and Loan in Mission Viejo at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 5. A customer, Daniel Phillip Seelinger of Laguna Niguel, shot at the alleged robber as he left the bank. The robber returned fire and escaped.
Seelinger was later arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon. Charges are pending.
FBI Special Agent Gary Morley described the suspect as white with short, dark hair and a tanned complexion. He was wearing a golf shirt and trousers and carried a black handgun, possibly an automatic, at the time of the robbery.
