Laser Disc Company Posts Drop in Profits

Image Entertainment Inc., a Chatsworth distributor of laser discs, reported slightly lower earnings and net sales for its fiscal first quarter, when it continued to suffer from earthquake-related disruptions in its warehouse and shipping operations.

In the three months ended June 30, Image had net income of $739,519, down 4% from its $772,680 profit a year earlier. Its sales fell 4%, to $16.3 million from $17 million.
