Effective Jan. 1, 1994, Day Runner changed its fiscal year end from Dec. 31 to June 30. For the comparable quarter last year, the company posted a profit of $308,000, or 5 cents a share. Sales rose 89%, to $26.4 million from $14 million. For the short fiscal year ended June 30, the company posted a profit of $2.1 million, or 33 cents a share, on sales of $43.2 million. That compares with a profit of $1.1 million, or 18 cents a share, for the like six months of 1993.
