Ceradyne Shows Loss for Quarter

COSTA MESA — Ceradyne Inc., a manufacturer of technical ceramics, reported a net loss of $558,000, or 9 cents a share, for the second quarter, compared with a net loss of $848,000, or 14 cents a share, for the prior-year period. Sales were flat at $4.2 million. The company’s year-to-date net loss was $747,000, or 12 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $1.3 million, or 22 cents a share, for the 1993 first half. Sales were up to $8.7 million from $8.5 million.
