Oldest Olympic Track and Field Champion Dies

Dr. Clarence (Bud) Houser, who was the oldest living Olympic track and field gold medalist, died Tuesday night of natural causes at 93 in Gardena.
Houser, a former USC athlete, won the shotput and discus in the 1924 Games in Paris, then repeated in the discus at the 1928 Games in Amsterdam.
Houser set Olympic records in the discus of 151 feet 4 inches and 155-3 in 1924 and 1928, respectively.
Houser is survived by a son, Lemuel, and a daughter, Bonnie Toll McClain, and five grandchildren.
Services are scheduled Monday at 3 p.m. at the Inglewood Mortuary Chapel.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the U.S. Olympic Committee.
