Election Must Not Sap Laguna’s Spirito
Does Laguna still have a unique spirit?
The upcoming election is tearing the town apart. Some say it’s a simple matter of pro-development people against anti-development people.
Are we as townspeople becoming morose, narcissistic and greedy, as some anthropologists say America has already become, or are we willing to commit ourselves to Laguna as a unique place with a unique spirit?
Congratulations to those townspeople who are friendly; to the seniors and others who have offered employment, if only an afternoon a week, to Latinos; to the businesses and others helping young people get green cards; to those who walk and bike in Laguna; to the Chamber of Commerce that refused to back down in supporting Gay Pride Weekend; to the women in the Rotary Club who have brought new energy to a once all-male enclave, and to all who believe this is and can be a unique place in space.
