Carriers Set On-Time Record: The nation’s 10 largest airlines had their best on-time performance in September since the government began collecting such data seven years ago, the Transportation Department said. According to the department’s Air Travel Consumer Report, 88% of the carriers’ flights arrived on time in September, up from 83.8% in August and 84.6% in September, 1993. The previous on-time high mark was 87.9%, set in September, 1991.
