OUTLOOK
Sabins got some bad news even before his team’s first day of practice. Clay Kilbarger, the point guard the past two seasons, decided to play soccer this year. It’s enough to make a basketball coach hate the World Cup. “Yeah, that’s a pretty critical position to lose a guy at,” Sabins said. Into that breech steps Duckworth and Hsu. One, or both, will run the Comanche offense. Hsu was the starting point guard on the junior varsity. They will battle, but a starter might not be picked until league. Rathod may be undersized for a center, but he has good leaping ability and was the co-most valuable player on the junior varsity. Hoover returns as the team’s shooting guard. But it will take him time to adjust from football, where he is the starting quarterback. Walker is a strong inside player. He averaged 9.3 rebounds and made .515% of his shots last season. He also averaged a little more than 10 points, but will need to score more this season. He should be helped on the inside by Llewellyn.
