Area Women to Meet in Golf

Porter Valley Country Club members Andrea Gaston and Linda Chen Olsen will meet today in the quarterfinals of the Women’s State Amateur Championship at the Golf Club at Quail Lodge in Carmel.
The pair, who are often teammates in assorted Porter Valley club events throughout the year, won their second-round matches Thursday and will tee off today at 7:30 a.m.
Chen Olsen, a Granada Hills resident who was co-medalist in the stroke-play portion of the Amateur, advanced by defeating Yukari Horikoshi of Santa Ana, 3 and 2.
Gaston, who lives in Chatsworth, defeated Amanda Nealy of Grant’s Pass, Ore., 2 up.
The 18-hole final is scheduled for Sunday.
