PREP ROUNDUP : Loara Upsets No. 8 Orange on Penalty Kick

Jonathan LeProux scored on a penalty kick with five minutes remaining to give host Loara a 1-0 upset of Orange, the eighth-ranked team in Orange County, in a nonleague boys’ soccer game Friday.
Jose Sanchez recorded eight saves in his first shutout for Loara (1-0). Orange is 0-0-1.
In other nonleague boys’ soccer:
Brethren Christian 3, Magnolia 1--Matt Mullins scored two unassisted goals and Sean Reeves added the third for visiting Brethren Christian.
Kevin Price had 17 saves for Brethren Christian (1-0-1).
Fountain Valley 1, Woodbridge 0--Joey Vasquez scored the winning goal with seven minutes left, helping Fountain Valley (3-0) remain undefeated.
Fullerton 1, Katella 0--Alejandro Sanchez scored the winning goal 20 minutes into the second half for Fullerton (1-0-1). Michael Shumaker had seven saves to record his second consecutive shutout.
Newport Harbor 4, Estancia 1--Justin Kerr scored four goals in the first half to lead visiting Newport Harbor (3-0).
Santiago 5, Costa Mesa 0--Albert Mendez scored two goals for visiting Santiago (2-0). Erik Bautista, Victor Ruiz and Horacio Rivera also scored.
Sonora 5, Anaheim 3--Wes Hale scored three goals, leading visiting Sonora (2-0). Sal Torres scored twice for Anaheim.
Valencia 1, El Dorado 0--Martin Aguilar scored in the first half for visiting Valencia (1-1). Stephen Huerth had nine saves for the shutout.
In the Harold S. Young boys’ soccer tournament in Clovis:
Capistrano Valley 1, Bakersfield 0--Steve Braud scored a goal in the first half off an assist from Ruben Villalobos for Capistrano Valley (3-0). In an earlier game against Fresno Edison, Brett Thompson scored two goals and Ryan Hawkins added one to give the Cougars a 3-0 victory. Capistrano Valley advanced to the eight-team finals today.
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Mater Dei 3, Claremont 1--Kristie Hoback, Kim Buccola and Katie Ticehurst had goals for host Mater Dei (1-0-1).
Buena Park 3, Century 0--Tiffany Peach, Gabby Fagins and Teresa Flores scored goals for host Buena Park (2-0).
