A Huntington Beach man remained hospitalized Tuesday after being stabbed during a dispute over a $150 debt, police said.
Ben Price, 18, was in guarded condition at South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach following the stabbing late Monday afternoon in the 1300 block of Catalina Street, said Sgt. Greg Bartz.
Bartz said the stabbing occurred after a group of people met to settle a $150 debt owed to one of Price’s friends. The man who owed the money allegedly stabbed Price, Bartz said.
Kenneth Furst, 18, of Lake Forest was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and released on his own recognizance while police investigate. Furst told police Price attacked him first.
“We have very conflicting stories as to what occurred,” Bartz said. “We have eight people and eight different stories.”
Bartz said he did not know what the $150 debt was for.
