Bechtel Wins China License: The San Francisco-based construction and engineering firm said it is the first U.S. company to be granted a construction license to work in China. The license, issued by the Chinese Ministry of Construction, was announced in Beijing by Dick Erskine, Bechtel’s senior representative there, the company said. The license will allow Bechtel to enter into contracts in its own name to perform construction work in China on projects that have a foreign investment component, it said.
